Aufgrund einer fehlenden Standardisierung auf dem Gebiet der maschinellen Beatmung und der hohen Anzahl von Anbietern sind diverse Bezeichnungen für Beatmungsformen entstanden. Diese Bezeichnungen beziehen sich zum Teil auf identische Beatmungsformen. Sie können jedoch auch von Hersteller zu Hersteller unterschiedliche Ausprägung und Bedeutung haben.
