Velns aizskrēja un to paņēma, bet, Dievam neredzot, mazu gabaliņu nozaga un ielika mutē. Dievs paņēma dūņas, izveidoja no tām bumbu, un tās sāka rūgt. Tā izrūga līdz tagadējās Zemes izmēriem, bet tajā pašā brīdī, kad Dieva bumba sāka kļūt lielāka, arī Velna mutē dūnas sāka augt lielākas. Velns vairs nevarējis saturēt mutē, tās izspļāva. Dievs uz Velnu sadusmojās un to nosūtīja pazemē.
