In page Grace Chisholm Young:

"

Of their six children, three continued on to study mathematics (including Laurence Chisholm Young and Cecilia Rosalind Tanner), one daughter (Janet) became a physician, and one son (Patrick) became a chemist and pursued a career in finance and business. Their eldest son (Frank) was killed in World War I, when his plane was shot down in 1917,[5] and his death had a profound effect on his parents, reducing their mathematical creativity.[6] One of Grace's fourteen grandchildren, Sylvia Wiegand (daughter of Laurence), is a mathematician at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and is a past president of the Association for Women in Mathematics.[citation needed]
