"

After high school, Rothlin earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in biochemistry from the University of Buenos Aires.[2] She was mentored by Ana Belén Elgoyhen and studied the biochemical properties of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the inner ear.[3] Her work helped further scientific understanding of how efferent cholinergic fibers and inner ear hair cells communicate information from the brain back to the ear to mediate sensory tuning.[citation needed]
