In Germany and Canada, it is now much cheaper to heat a house by burning grain than by using fuel derived from crude oil.[3][4][5] With oil at $120 per barrel, a savings of a factor of 3 on heating costs is possible. When crude oil was at $25/barrel there was no economic incentive to switch to a grain fed heater.[citation needed]
