In 1969, Whitman acted in Sweet Hunters.[36] According to John Gregory Dunne's book The Studio (1969), Whitman was suggested for the title role in The Boston Strangler (1968) by John Bottomly, the Massachusetts assistant attorney general who prosecuted Albert DeSalvo. Instead, the role went to Tony Curtis.[citation needed]
