In the United States, It is estimated that 1 in 6 children from ages two to eight have a psychopathology disorder. Boys of this age are more likely to be diagnosed with a disorder than girls.[1] From age 9-17, at least 1 in 5 children have a diagnosed disorder, but only about a third of these children receive treatment for their disorder.[2] Anxiety and depression disorders in children- whether noted or unnoted, are found to be a precursor for similar episodes in adulthood.[3] Usually a large stressor similar to the one the person experienced in childhood brings out the anxiety or depression in adulthood.[citation needed]
