In page Internet censorship in India:

"

In February 2022, the website of VideoLAN, the developers of the free and open-source media player software VLC Media Player, was blocked by most Indian ISPs. It was reported that the block might have been related to a cyberattack by a Chinese group that had been using compromised versions of VLC as a payload for malicious software.[citation needed] In October 2022, VideoLAN, with assistance from the IFF, filed a legal notice seeking information on the block, alleging that the government had breached the site blocking rules by not providing notice or opportunity for a hearing. Although information about the block was not published, the block was lifted in November 2022.[14][15][16]
