On 16 March 2020, the Government of Manipur issued an order, signed by H. Gyan Prakash in the name of the governor, to suspend Internet services for three days to avoid usage of social media networks, which might lead to escalation of an incident between two communities at Chasad Village in the Kamjong district.[11][12] Internet services were restored the next day, reducing the period of suspension to one day.[citation needed]
