"In September 2006 a brochure that analyzed primary and secondary school history textbooks was prepared and published by The Jewish Community of Zagreb organisation in cooperation with Yad Vashem and the Visual History Foundation. The authors – several prominent historians – criticized the lack of information concerning Jewish ethnic identity and culture and the genesis of anti-Semitism. Historians stated that existing textbooks implied that implementation of racist laws had no roots in the World War II-era Independent State of Croatia but occurred exclusively under the influence of the Nazi-affiliated regime.[citation needed]
