The Dominican theologian Ignace Berten expressed his "grave concerns" to Monsignor Angelo Amati, the episcopal delegate for the cause of beatification, regarding the beatification process of Chiara Lubich.[1] While acknowledging the depth of her faith, her sincerity, and a possible mystical experience, Berten raised doubts about some of her expressions, given her position as founder and sole superior of the Focolare Movement, with a consequent interference between these expressions and the life of the movement.[citation needed]
