At the end of the war, in July 1945, Viermetz was arrested and incarcerated. In January 1946, she was released, first living in Winhöring, and then Munich from December of the same year.[citation needed] In January 1947, she was imprisoned again and was indicted at the RuSHA Trial.[1] At the trial, which began on 1 July 1947, she was the only woman among the 14 defendants and only the second woman to stand trial in Nuremberg.[2]
