The writer and activist Bibi Khanoom Astarabadi founded the first school for Persian girls in 1907. In this school, Iranian women could study subjects including history, geography, law, calculus, religion, and cooking.[citation needed] The enrollment of 12 women into Tehran University in 1936 marked the entry of women into university education in Iran.[2]
