In 1912, she became the first president of the Nurses Association of China, and after a two-year term went on to be chairman of its education committee. She played a leading role in establishing a school of nursing at the missionary-founded Hsiang-Ya (Xiangya) Hospital.[1] By 1919, she was Dean of the school.[2] She wrote several articles about her experiences for readers of the American Journal of Nursing, sometimes illustrating them with photographs.[citation needed]
