The opening words of the poem "The Gate of the Year" struck a chord with a country facing the uncertainty of war. It is now among the most quoted poetic works of the twentieth century.[citation needed] This poem is inscribed at the entrance to the King George VI Memorial Chapel in St George's Chapel, Windsor at Windsor Castle, and in a window at the Savoy Chapel in London. The poem was read at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 2002 and was printed in the Order of Service.[3]
