In page Alice Roosevelt Longworth:

"

She took on increasing responsibilities as her father's advisor and representative, particularly after illness incapacitated her aunt Bamie. Although she warned her father against challenging William Howard Taft for the Republican nomination in 1912,[citation needed] she supported her father's unsuccessful bid to reclaim the presidency as an independent progressive in the general election. In 1916, during the presidency of Woodrow Wilson, she was barred from the White House a second time for a bawdy joke at Wilson's expense. She and her father campaigned heavily against the entry of the United States into the League of Nations under the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, and she carried on the successful cause after he died in 1919.[1]
