It took a long time to recover after liberation in 1944. Many stations, such as Liège, had not reopened by the 1960s while some others, such as Champ de Mars and Saint-Martin, never reopened.[citation needed] On 23 March 1948, the CMP (the underground) and the STCRP (bus and tramways) merged to form the RATP, still running the Métro and most of Paris's public transportation services today.
