Clio is served by the Union Pacific Railroad, Its predecessor (the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad purchased the Minneapolis-Kansas City "Spine Line" from the bankrupt Rock Island Railroad in the 1980s. There has not been a depot nor passenger service in Clio since the middle 1900s, although the line is very busy with through freight traffic.[citation needed]
