All of the battleships and battlecruisers on both sides carried torpedoes of various sizes, as did the lighter craft.[4] The British battleships carried three or four underwater torpedo tubes. The battlecruisers carried from two to five. All were either 18-inch or 21-inch diameter. The German battleships carried five or six underwater torpedo tubes in three sizes from 18 to 21 inch and the battlecruisers carried four or five tubes.[citation needed]
