León Cathedral was supposedly begun around 1255. Its west façade resembles French models, although it is wider in proportion. The general plan follows Chartres, while the ambulatory with five radial chapels and the aisled transept were derived from Reims.[citation needed] The bar tracery and glazed triforium are Rayonnant in style, without the Moorish decoration of Toledo and Burgos. The general slenderness is similarly typical of the French Rayonnant, with shafts and clustered colonnettes rising to the vaults.[12]
