The statement in the Qur'an that determines the status of slaves and concubines in the understanding of Sharia is as follows; ma malakat aymanuhum or milk al-yamin[25] meaning "those whom your right hands possess". It is often stated today that Sharia provides many rights to slaves and aims to eradicate slavery over time.
