In 1980, he was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame, and appeared on a U.S. postage stamp in 1983. The Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame inducted him in 2000, "in recognition of his contributions and pioneering spirit that have laid the foundation for consumer electronics."[citation needed] He was posthumously inducted into the Wireless Hall of Fame in 2001.[4] Columbia University established the Edwin Howard Armstrong Professorship in the School of Engineering and Applied Science in his memory.[5]
