He built a machine to communicate with the dead, specifically his mother, but ignored Richards’ warnings about its flaws, leading to a catastrophic explosion that severely damaged his face.[1] Expelled after the incident, Victor traveled until he collapsed on a Tibetan mountainside, where he was rescued by monks.
