In sum, the Czechs rejected the aspirations of the Czech Germans and demanded the inclusion of the areas inhabited by ethnic Germans in Czechoslovakia, on the grounds that they had always been part of the lands of the Bohemian Crown. These areas were in some instances more than 90% (as of 1921) ethnically German, which made the whole of Czechoslovakia 23.4% German.[citation needed]
