Israeli Operation Dani was the most important Israeli offensive, aimed at securing and enlarging the corridor between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv by capturing the roadside cities Lod (Lydda) and Ramle. Hadita, near Latrun, was captured by the Israelis at a cost of nine dead.[citation needed]
